Some basic knowledge of Android:
Android era officially began on Octobar 22 of 2008.
We all know that Android has many version or codename and as far my knowledge goes I know most of the people refer to Android version by "codenames" rather then the version number.
Are you clear what is"codename"and"version number"? not? Ok let me give you one example,Version name="Android 1.0,1.5,2.0 and etc" and Codenames="Android cupcake,ice-cream sandwich, jelly Bean, lollipop". Hope you all understood.
See how the codenames and version are chosen and what are the various version of Android:
The codenames are chosen Alphabetically since Android 1.5 has been developed with a specific codename. Some codenames are a limited to only a specific one, while other are associated with more then one version number. The naming are typically appears to correspond to change in the developer API levels. But I think it is not always the same (Example: 3.0 and 3.1 are both "Honeycomb"but they have different API levels.
Following below are the currently existing Android release.
- Android 1.5| Cupcake.
- Android 1.6| Donut.
- Android 2.0 and 2.1| Eclair.
- Android 2.2| Froyo (stand for "frozen yogurt".
- Android 2.3| Gingerbread.
- Android 3.0 to 3.2| Honeycomb.
- Android 4.0| Ice-cream sandwich.
- Android 4.1 to 4.3| Jelly Bean.
- Android 4.4| KitKat.
- Android 5.0 and 5.1| Lollipop.
Hope these knowledge are beneficial to you all.! keep visiting for more..! I will rock on soon.
